Petra traditional constructions has undertaken many traditional renovations, from tiny village houses to mansion-style properties deep in Corfu's countryside. And in response to a demand for new-build homes with old-style character (rather than identical modern concrete boxes), we construct from scratch houses which would not be out of place in a traditional village. In all our projects, we use modern methods to preserve and recreate the original look of an old property. Our project managers and foremen have been trained to preserve or recreate the traditional appearance and atmosphere of Corfu's houses, whether old restoration properties or new-build ones. Our skilled labourers and craftsmen use techniques which restore features - such as original stonework - in Corfu's authentic local style. Where possible, we use genuine fittings, salvaged and repaired to be better than new.

Petra's new-build developments are small and friendly, with no more than half a dozen properties on any one site. Generally, the houses are built using traditional materials, in the form of a hamlet, and appear from the outside to have been constructed centuries ago. Depending on planning zone, the properties may or may not be somehow constructionally linked, while at the same time their positioning ensures the privacy of the owner. Indoors, they are well planned, and give the impression of being much larger than their actual footprint size. Each house is slightly different in appearance and layout, so that there is no feeling of being on a housing estate.
